i usually dont have time to leave reviews but this product is stellar

i used sandpaper and a kit to get rid of some yellowing on the outside of my headlights (2005 car)

the sanding worked, but the issue was that the headlights began to yellow again shortyl after the sanding.

this is because the factory uv coating is not up to par (or was removed when sanding)

this product goes on and keeps the headlights clear, almost wet looking. so far i am very very impressed. just remember this is not a headlight restoration kit, its just the final step in the headlight restoration process when the uv later has been lost/damaged/removed

after a car wash, putting on the silicone based blue magic goes on easy and buffs to a real shinny bright lens that looks fantastic. after a rain or another car wash, you’ll need to put some more blue majic on your headlight lens to get that wonderful shine once again. blue magic’s shine just does not hold up very long when exposed to the elements! after maybe 10 applications or so, yellowing begins to reappear even with more blue magic applied! yellowing taken away by cleaner and reapply blue magic. looks great once again.
worth the hassle? maybe yes or maybe not? i don’t mind myself until i find a better longer lasting silicone sealer for my plastic car lenses. damm, i miss the good old days of glass headlights when i would keep them clean and brilliant with window cleaner and car wax!

i already had another clear coat product on hand in my garage. i applied two coats of that, but it does not offer the uv protection. i’ve read this product is oily and takes forever to dry. the bottle says spray directly on the lens. others here have said spray on the cloth. i did both, a little on the lens, and somewhat generous on the cloth, then made sure the surface of the lens was evenly coated. as others noted, the lens looks even clearer now, but that’s because it’s oily wet. what i found the next day was the lenses looked and felt dry, but after feeling them, i could feel product on my fingers. i buffed with a microfiber towel, and repeated. i let the second coat dry just a few hours, and instead of using a microfiber towel to buff, i used the same towel i used to apply the product. the lenses look dry, but likely still have a thin oily film on them. i know they are well covered and protected. this product should last, and there is a lot in the bottle. enough to cover after every car wash for a year. even if i clean with palstix and apply once a month, i should never have to “restore” again. only time will tell. i have a big bottle of complete buffing compound too. if i do need to restore, i may only need to buff, clean, and clear coat. well… that’s the plan. if anything changes, i will update this review. no news means the product is performing as expected.

to start off, if your lens have condensation or water inside the lens, you need to replace them. no restoring chemical will help. that said, this is good stuff for finishing your lens restoration.
depending on how bad your lenses are, you may need to wet sand your lenses from 400 grit, 800, +61404532026, first. mine were so bad that you could not see through the lens to see either headlight bulbs. they were yellow and opaque. i wet sanded through each of the grits you see above (it will look like you have ruined your lenses till you hit the 1600 and 2400 grits). then i hit the lenses with a scratch and swirl remover and a soft wool buffer on my drill. finally, i hit the lens with blue magic lens sealer.
yikes, what a difference. i did not bother to take pictures of my 2008 scion lenses before because frankly, i figured i was going to have to replace them. but after i was done, the lenses were nearly new clear. using the blue magic lens sealer every month or so (just a quick wipe on) keeps them looking great. best of all, my headlights are back to full brightness for night driving.

i use about 10 different products on headlights and i really like this product. the comments about being wet are somewhat stupid. it is a liquid that is absorbed into the headlight surface. put too much on and it stays wet duh. this stuff really improves the optical clarity of the lens and fills any microscopic pores in the plastic. you have to restore the lens first. this gives you about 2-5 weeks of protection so the plastic isn’t oxidized again depending on weather and washing. most apply it after a wash, it
writings great on taillights and side view mirrors as well. another product i like was countertop magic but it is very hard to find at a reasonable cost. one note to blue magic please change the bottle design it constantly falls over….

i’ve started regularly polishing my headlight after they started fogging due to uv. i started using this spray – but as folks noted “kind of like armour all for your headlights”. and that’s pretty much it.

advantages:
it’s ok

disadvantages:
i seem to need to re-appy it about when i need to re-polish my headlights
silicone if gets on paint may impair later waxing and treatments.

summary:
just re-polish your headlights when they start to yellow.

i bought some sandpaper to buff out my headlights. i used this sealant once i had them clear again. seems to work well and is preventing them from yellowing.

this is the second time i have cleaned up my headlights, the first time i did not apply a sealant and they started to yellow rapidly. with this sealant applied, it appears they are holding up well and no signs of yellowing. from what i read this sealant should be applied at least a couple of times a year.

5.0 out of 5 stars definitely seems to work!

after polishing my lights with just plain polishing compound before, it took only about a month before they started to fade again. it has been over a month since i repolished them and then applied this sealant on top, and they still look great! i used a sheet of shop towel to apply rather than have most of it be absorbed into a microfiber cloth, letting it sit overnight to dry before driving.
