So I always see a few pics of some cafe racers whit a black X on the headlights… So I tried some electric tape on mine but it starts melting… Anyone know what could be used??

FWIW typically tape on headlights is used when riding on a track that has rules specifying glass has to be taped (to stop glass ending up on the track if the bike is dropped).
Many people use duct tape for that.

I don’t think the lights on the Thruxton R can be turned off.. They’re like daytime lights..
Also I don’t mean duct tape for track use. Here’s a pic of what I mean…

Why dont you go racing instead, then you actually have a reason to tape it.

I gotta agree. Taping the headlight of a road bike is pretty much like wearing a hard hat when you’re building a snow man…

There are other high temp tapes available as well. The issue might be that the adhesive is facing the heat and not the outer layer. The outer layer is temp resistant, not the adhesive.
You could install a metal rock grille over the lens and then paint a black X on the grille. Then you will have two hip mods to impress your friends and riding buds.

tape works well here, unless you’re doing a track day, it’s lame

Not getting this, if you want a black cross on your headlight, why not duct tape?

Le image.. this is probably the main reason why i dont ride or spend time with a lot of bike enthusiasts. They have pointless modding worms crawling in their brains. Why dont you try making your bikes go faster instead?
I mean i already know youre not using your bikes at night, whats the point of riding when noone sees how cool you look doing it right? ?

Live and let live. Bloke wants a black cross. it is his bike. Ride your own ride I say.
I still reckon, try thin black duct tape.

Lots of people in this particular thread think their opinion or what they like is somehow superior.
To answer the question that you asked, I had success using electrical tape. I left it long over the edges for a few rides and then cut it down because I found that it would shrink a little
Oh, and I have a yellow lens too and I ride at night.

Opinions were solicited by the OP and were provided, I’d venture that is the nature of a forum…

Exactly man… I have no clue why people spend time here patronizing others.. If you don’t like what I’m doing, it’s your problem.. This is my bike and I came here for some help, not opinions.. Thanks to those who helped!!

Good luck with any mods you wish to make . Many years ago I didn’t like the rear lights fitted to several bikes I had ( before the availability of so much aftermarket stuff ) so I covered the rear light with black tape then using a scalpel carved a more ( in my opinion ) attractive shape to show red .
