lynx95 I was looking at a guide to cleaning my strangle body it basically said it was easy. take off the air intake and atomizer carb clean in the throttly consistency in receptive position, and I did that cause it was in truth dirty lots of dirt came out then iodine closed it put it all back together and now my car habit start..

it equitable struggles while trying to crank it if it does start it will struggle then die again..

its got me a fortune worried not certain whats causing it as I didnt do much so all the hoses are decent and tight..

one more thing I should mention ( I did get a name brand carb cleaner if you will, that does say it wont affect the cataylst converter and is oxygen detector safe. ) like referred to in the repair manual.. however this is my first time cleaning the strangle body.

any suggestions ?

My vote for why it wo n’t start is a big vaccum leak somewhere due to not re-installing correctly .
patsmx5 You flooded the engine with the atomizer. Push gas bicycle to shock as this will put the cable car in ‘clear flood ‘ manner. then turn it over and it will start after a few seconds .

it came out of the throttly soundbox ( front ) dripping out.. as for the hoses like I said they are nice and tight..
hobie237 Yes, the first thing to check for is a vacuum leak, second is to have to get the carb clean and sludge out of the inhalation manifold paper and runners. Pedal to the floor, crackpot until it starts, hold at approximately half strangle for at least a full moment or two to clear it out .
patsmx5 well by tomorrow it will probably crank normally as the fuels in the inhalation and bric-a-brac will evaporate. When you flood an engine, one way to clear it is to let it sit for a while .
MrMiatagi Out of curio, does the pedal to the floor/crank ’til it starts thing work when you flood the engine of the RX-8 ?
Jim ( Pop VII ) C If you have a 1.6 and removed the AFM, ensure the plug is by rights seated. If you tried to remove it by removing the screws quite than the wire clip around it then probably broke a cable inside. May just be some interfering knead to repair. If wishing to ensure it is with the AFM/wiring, strap the F/P and GND terminals in the diagnostic test box. Engine should run in one of its map open loop modes. If not the following coherent problem for your symptoms is a massive air leak in the crossover or intake tract.

badly doubt it is flooded as the fuel is metered by the ECU while cranking .

At FSAE we bought the thrust by the case, and used it by the case. Cleaned everything from engine parts to our shop floor with it. I absolutely love the stuff, for our annual lawnmower tuneup fundraiser, I and my aforesaid ally will go through at least a case and a half of it good on the “ trouble mowers, ” the ones people bring in that do n’t work correct.

We pretty near worship it. Cuts through gum, grease and dirty unlike anything else.

Edit- we actually used the stuff in such quantities that campus OSHA wanted at one period to buy us a parts cleaner to limit our exposure .

I did some more external vane inquisitory and could find no definitive answers as to the injury of using carb clean.
I do know one thing though — Do not let the stuff get by chance sprayed into your eyes. Happened to me about two years ago and boy did that hurt. Make surely that you wear protective eyeware when using accelerator body, choke, carb and brake cleaners .

OK Open the hood, take a bass hint and look truly hard at the entire intake where you took it apart. Make sure EVERY hose that goes to that fictile ball carrier and the strangle consistency, that you may have removed, are connected and not cracked ! !

Why did you feel compelled to clean the accelerator consistency ? ? Did it have particles of crud in it ? If then, you may have had a vac leak and in cleaning it all up, you made it worse because you washed out the crud that was sealing it.. slightly.

I think Gumout is the merely old fashioned carb cleaner left on the shelves, good about everything else is reformulated to protect the coat on the TB.

The OP ‘s problem sounds suspiciously like disconnecting the AFM with the two little screws alternatively of the cartridge holder at which point an inner wire got broken and needs to be carefully repaired .

I do it all the time. merely worm the pale yellow in adenine close to the TB as potential, defend accelerator 1/2-3/4 open, spray liberally. Move accelerator between 1/4 and broad overt while spraying, do this for a effective 30-60 seconds or sol. Hold accelerator at least halfway open to clear everything out for another hour or so, and be on your way. only recommendation would be to follow it with water to get the carbon paper out of the combustion chambers. like procedure, hold strangle 3/4 candid and drip water into the inhalation, continue to hold clear to clear it out, be on your way. entirely son of caution is that you MUST change your oil IMMEDIATELY after doing this, as blend solvents and lubricants is a REALLY badly mind .
