Fishtailing Diagram of a car undergoing fishtail. Fishtailing is a vehicle treat problem which occurs when the rise wheels lose grip, resulting in oversteer. This can be caused by low friction surfaces ( sand, gravel, rain, snow, ice, and so forth ). Rear-drive vehicles with sufficient exponent can induce this personnel casualty of grip on any airfoil, which is called power-oversteer. Fishtailing may be the result of the police pastime technique called the PIT tactic, in which the driver of a pursuing vehicle intentionally induces directional instability in a prosecute vehicle with the purpose of spinning it off the road .
