1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

Could it be they gave me a bad headlight switch or is this a seperate problem. I also have a blowed license plate bulb on one side. IS THIS A POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECT IF ONE BULB IS OUT FOR THE COMPLETE CIRCUIT OF LIGHTING FRONT AND BACK TO BE ALL WITH BULBS WORKING SIMUTANEOUSLY??

1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans New question about crazy headlight switch??

ME AND DAD WENT DEERHUNTING THIS EVENING AND AFTER KILLING A LITTLE TIME IN THE WOODS AND ON OUR JOURNEY HOME AS I GOT TO THE HOUSE MY BROTHER-IN-LAW CAME IN AT THE SAME TIME. He called me and said I didn’t have any taillights at all. Brake lights worked and backup lights too. i’ve had trouble with my headlight switch not keeping headlights and dashlights on at the same time. SO I WENT OUTSIDE TO SEE ABOUT THE TAILLIGHT PROBLEM WHILE IT WAS DARK. I PULLED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH OUT AND SURE NUFF I DIDN’T HAVE A LICK OF TAILLIGHTS., BUT HEADLIGHTS CAME ON AS I PULLED THE SWITCH OUT SLOWLY-PUT ON BRIGHT STILL NO TAILLIGHTS. As i pulled switch out slowly to where dashlights would come on–WAALAAA the taillights came on as daslights did also, but headlights went off. I tried to jiggle switch to get headlight and dashlight to be on at same time, but was tough to do. SO MY QUESTION IS WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM A BAD NEW SWITCH OR A WIRING OR GROUNDING PROBLEM??1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans found new side effect of headlight switch problem

This problem I’VE had with my headlight switch is going to the next door mechanic in the morning. I discovered a new clue to give ya’ll on this strange occurence. I come home from deer hunting a couple of evenings ago and my brother-in-law called me as I had just come in the house and said I didn’t have a lick of taillights, but had breaklights. SOO I went outside to check on that and sure enough he was right, I could pull the headlight **** out and have headlights, but no dashlights or taillights. So i pulled the **** out slowly and the dashlights would come on at a certain position-about half-way and the headlights would go off then too. I also noticed and this is the new clue was when the dashlights came on the tailights would work then!!! SO I’M TO TAKE HER TO THE MECHANIC IN THE MORNING. DOES THE DASHLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS COME ON THE SAME CIRCUIT AND WHAT DOES THIS NEW EVIDENCE MEAN ABOUT THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND POSSIBLY SWITCH HARNESS CONNECTOR??1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

You’d get more responses if you

1. Use paragraph structure to separate Ideas.

2. Don’t use bold.

3. Turn off caps lock.

Also, from my observation this forum doesn’t really offer much technical help.

We give lots of technical help, when you post in the correct section. Not everyone looks in the “general” section.

1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans Fixed my headlight problem

SORRY ABOUT MY GRAMMER-Just learning typing and forum techniques–a little lazy–thats all. Sometimes a problem seems a whole lot more complicated than in reality it is and in my case I plea the fifth. In my previous posts here I had all kind of suggestions about my headlight switch , yet the simplist things can not be ignored. All these sleepless nights and googles searches for my unusual problem was simply a blowed fuse!! The one that controls the dashlight and taillights is same circuit. I could have fixed that myself and saved several head aches. When I pulled **** out halfway the dash and taillights would come on , but breath deep and they would go off and headlights would come on, go figure.. It goes to show people can worry about a problem too much and yet it’s simply under you’re nose. Thanks bourbon and Sean for tips–By the way what is paragraph structure and which forums is best for technical truck problems on this site to get more answers ??–ROUNDBABY1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans1990 ford f150 headlight switch problem - Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans

It’s easy to forget about the simple things sometimes. At least it was an easy fix.

With your year truck, you would want to post here: https://www.f150forum.com/f10/
