I wasn’t able to pull any numbers off the boxes but I did take a closer look at the upper box with the stud coming out of it that rests against the brake pedal. I picked up a test light and checked the two wires coming off this box. There’s an orange/green one that is always hot. There’s also a solid orange wire that is hot when the pedal is NOT depressed and not hot when the pedal is depressed. It looks as though the switch provides a ground which then illuminates the brake lights. I pulled the switch off the car, disconnected the two wires from it and verified that it is in fact providing a ground using my battery, a jumper wire and a test light.

I tried tracing the orange wire but it goes waaay up into the dash, possibly to the lighting control module just below the ash tray. I wasn’t able to follow it very far so that might not be true.

Since the orange wire was somewhat of a dead end I tried starting from the back and working my way to the front. There are four main wires that connect directly to the bulbs of the brake lights. I turned on the hazards and was able to identify two of the four as being hot when the hazards flash. The other two I’m assuming are grounds. I depressed the brake pedal and tested the two wires that were hot when the hazards were flashing but got no such activity with the brake pedal depressed.

I had the interior pieces along side the driver’s side of the car pulled back as to expose the wiring harness. I was able to trace the two wires that were hot with the hazards on back to the front of the vehicle (directly below the dash) but they ended up at a plug at which point the wires coming out the other side were not the same color. \:\(

Right now I’m at a point where I’m in dire need of a wiring schematic. If anyone knows where the orange wire coming off the pedal switch leads to or where the two hot taillight wires end up I would be eternally grateful. Anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for an ’03 CV P71? You guys are great, thanks for the help thus far!

Jesse Thanks for the answer Clayton.I was n’t able to pull any numbers off the boxes but I did take a closer look at the upper box with the scantling coming out of it that rests against the brake pedal. I picked up a examination light and checked the two wires coming off this box. There ‘s an orange/green one that is always hot. There ‘s besides a solid orange cable that is hot when the pedal point is NOT depressed and not hot when the pedal is depressed. It looks as though the switch provides a grind which then illuminates the brake lights. I pulled the switch off the car, disconnected the two wires from it and verified that it is in fact providing a grate using my battery, a jumper wire and a screen light.I tried tracing the orange wire but it goes waaay up into the dash, possibly to the lighting control module good below the ash tray. I was n’t able to follow it very far so that might not be true.Since the orange wire was reasonably of a dead end I tried starting from the back and working my way to the front. There are four independent wires that connect directly to the bulb of the brake lights. I turned on the hazards and was able to identify two of the four as being hot when the hazards flash. The other two I ‘m assuming are grounds. I depressed the brake bicycle and tested the two wires that were hot when the hazards were flashing but got no such action with the brake pedal point depressed.I had the inside pieces along side the driver ‘s side of the car pulled spinal column as to expose the wire rule. I was able to trace the two wires that were hot with the hazards on back to the front of the fomite ( directly below the dash ) but they ended up at a plug at which point the wires coming out the other side were not the same color.Right now I ‘m at a period where I ‘m in desperate necessitate of a wiring conventional. If anyone knows where the orange wire coming off the pedal switch leads to or where the two hot taillight wires end up I would be everlastingly grateful. Anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for an ’03 CV P71 ? You guys are great, thanks for the help oneself thus far ! Jesse
