I went with these. Huge improvement. Lasted 5 years with no issue and recently had to replace the harness itself.

Do you have any before and after pics of this setup? You had the factory projectors? What color did you go with?

Always tell people if you do that just be aware it is a free excuse to be pulled over. That is a stone cold fact. Do not blame you because the lights do suck.

Check out Headlight Revolution where they do testing in different trucks for beam patterns that do not blind others, brightness, quality, etc. This video shows the fancy high $$$ complete headlight assemblies. They also have videos where they just test replacement bulbs.

I understand the housing is different, but is the projector the same in both? IE the beam pattern and light spread would be comparable?

LOL being somewhat familiar with types of tests required for FMVSS108 to claim DOT approval if you believe all of those lights are DOT approved I have some ocean front property in Kansas to sell you lol. SMH

Recently over the last few years some of the Chinese lights are just having DOT added to the plastic lens hoping they are not caught.

I don’t know a single cop who would pull you over for not having true DOT approved lights, especially when affixed within a factory style housing. Not to mention, i don’t know a single cop who would be able to tell you on an MV stop at 1am whether your lights are truly DOT approved or just etched by some 4 year old from China. The only time i forsee this truly being an issue is if you had a full reconstruction done from an accident that you were in and someone either died or is about to die and you’re at fault – at which point you have significantly bigger issues than the amount of LUX on the roadway in front of you…….

And I know ALOT of cops….

Not going to disagree with that it gives them a reason to, but I had hid’s in my 02 for nearly ten years, and have had led’s in it now for two years and never once been pulled over for them. Granted, 95% of my driving is in rural indiana, so that might have something to do with it as well… But I’ve actually had several times that I’ve inadvertently flashed an oncoming vehicle for having their brights on, and then found out it was a sheriff’s vehicle as it passed me. My wife has smacked me a couple times over it as well lol

Thanks for the responses guys. I will take seeing over dying and dont care that theyre not DOT compliant.

I looked at the Morimoto, and Headlight Revolution sites. But then a friend informed me of DDM Tuning. Hes used them in his trucks for 13 years and never had a problem. Plus they are a lot cheaper. Waiting a response from the vendor to be sure I order the correct HID kit.

Did you check out the made in the USA bulbs from Diode Dynamic on Headlight Revolution ? Also the Supernova and GTR ones they sell are very good.

I have personally run the DDM tuning for over 12 years now on my last 4 vehicles. Always used their “digital” HID kits. I just haven’t decided if i want to go HID again or LED that has been my only hesitation

Looking at DDM’s website, I don’t see a kit listed for the 9012 bulbs and I don’t see a way to look a kit up by vehicle to see if they offer for our trucks. But, idk what is switchable with 9012 bulbs either, if anything. I’d like to find a good brighter light to use as well- I’ve never had issues with my other trucks with tinted windshields, but this one sure seems darker than the others

No, sorry no pics. Yes changed from factory. 5500k. Aimed properly I’ve never been flashed for seeming too bright.
