this automotive maintenance tutorial was specifically written to assist owners of the 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 dodge dart in changing a burnt out dual filament low / high beam, front turn signal or side marker light bulb in the headlight housings.

the replacement bulb part numbers are as follows: low / high beam # 9012, front turn signal # mopar l07442nall or 7442na and side marker # 194.

no
weapons are needed to access and replace any of the headlight bulbs on either the driver or passenger side of the car.



 
press tab – release cover

round plastic dust cap

1/4 turn counterclockwise
the first few steps are to sit in the driver seat, turn the ignition switch to the “on / accessory” position, but do not start the engine.

turn the steering wheel all the way in the opposite direction of the burnt out headlight bulb.

turning the front wheels will create more working room in the wheel well so you can easily access the bulbs.

locate the rectangular black plastic access cover on the wheel well liner (or “splash guard”) just in front of the tire.

press in the tab to release the access panel and set it aside in a safe place.

rotate the round black plastic dust cap 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it off the low / high beam headlight bulb housing.

set the dust cover aside in a safe place.
low/high beam bulb

1/4 turn counterclockwise

headlight bulb removed
rotate the base of the old low/high beam bulb 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it out of the housing.
disconnect power plug

old # 9012 low/high beam

gently pry back the grey plastic retaining clip before sliding the electrical connector straight off the base of the old headlight bulb.
remove side marker socket

pull out old bulb

push in new # 194 bulb
if you also need to replace the side marker bulb, now is a good time to access the socket with the headlight bulb’s dust cap out of the way.

rotate the small grey bulb socket, located at the top outer corner of the headlight bulb, 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out of the housing.

pull the old side marker bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new # 194 bulb.

if necessary, you may also use any other miniature wedge base bulbs such as the number 158, 168, w5w, 2825 or a compatible led unit.
re-insert sidemarker socket

attach new 9012 bulb

re-insert the side marker bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

try to avoid touching the glass part of the new halogen headlight bulb with your fingers or anything greasy in the engine bay.

if you do get the new bulb dirty, wipe it clean with an alcohol moistened paper towel.

push the power plug straight on to the base of the new 9012 bulb until the retaining clip clicks securely in to place.

insert the new headlight bulb in to the housing.

1/4 turn clockwise – lock

1/4 turn clockwise – lock
rotate the headlight bulb 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

replace the plastic dust cap by rotating it 1/4 turn clockwise.
re-attach access panel

turn signal – inner corner

turn signal bulb socket
re-insert the tabs on the inner edge of the wheel well liner access cover.

then gently pop in the outer edge of the panel to secure the retaining clip.

the front turn signal light bulb is located at the inner corner of the headlight assembly.

reach in behind the headlight housing and rotate the base of the grey bulb socket 1/4 turn counterclockwise before pulling it straight out.
1/4 turn counterclockwise

bulb socket removed

pull out old bulb
pull the old turn signal bulb straight out of the socket and push in a new amber colored number mopar l07442nall (also known as the 7442na) bulb.
push in new 7442na

1/4 turn clockwise – lock

test new headlight bulbs
re-insert the bulb socket in to the housing and rotate it 1/4 turn clockwise to secure it in place.

test the new light bulbs by turning on the headlight switch, activating the hazard signals and flashing the high beams.
