so i finally got a new helmet. it came in today! i ordered a medium size blue icon decay helmet! it’s my first new helmet, so i was wondering if there are any tricks to breaking it in quicker so it’s more comfortable. my last helmet was a icon mainframe, so i figured the two medium sizes were the same. so…. if there is an easier, quicker way to break in the inner paddings, let me know! thanks.

wear it a lot. even when not riding. wearing it is the only way to break it in, just like boots, pants, etc.

you guy’s are all wrong. you have to sleep in it, wear it to work, in the shower, ect…

or, you could just simply order some new cheek pads that are thinner than what came in it. helmets don’t break in. with age, the padding will deteriorate some and appear to fit looser, thats when you need to replace it.

take a hot shower with it on, then keep wearing it until it’s completely dry.

just kidding with you. a new helmet should fit snugly, but not so much that it causes any pain. if you need to “break in” a helmet, you probably bought the wrong size.

1 – put helmet on

2 – put a good long movie on, godfather would work well

3 – sit upside down on your couch

the blood rushing to your head will cause your head to pulsate a little, this will help break in the liner much faster than any of the above ideas.

another idea is to stuff a sweatshirt in your helmet over night. wear it during the day on rides and then put the sweatshirt back in at night. only do this for a couple nights cuz you want the pads to form to your face. thats what i did at least. . .don’t know if its right but my helmet fits snug now and the pads are formed to my face.

but i guess the best way is just to wear our helmet until the pads soften up and form to your face. if i get another helmet i’d prolly put my helmet on and watch the lord of the rings trilogy back to back to back.

shave your head. i put my helmet on the other day and i had to check if it was my passenger helm, because it was snug. (looks same, less broke in) but it was because i havnt cut my hair in a month because it was snug. so just buzz off that rats nest and wear that thing.
