headlight re-sealing questions.
ok i am in the process of installing strobes and smokeing out the inside of my lense for my lights. had a few questions regarding the re-sealing of the light housings. one, what type of cilicone should i use so if need be i can open them again. two, i have a feeling once i get the housings back together that their will be moisture in the housing, how can i go about preventing moisture in the housing while re-asembling the housing?

Any RTV silicone from an auto parts store will do. I would get either black or clear. They now sell the stuff in a nice little can with a nozzle. Fits perfect in the channel where the lid goes.
My suggestion to prevent moisture from getting in there would be to use some ratchet straps. That way you can tighten them down real tight. I have used them and not had any problems.

Clear silicone in the grove and once pressed back together. I used GOOP toseal the seam up. No moisture ever 4+ years. Lenses have seen better days though

I never used any additional silicone. Just heat and press back together. 2 years later, still no leaks.
