is there a headlight relay? i have found the fuse location in the tipm but is there an actual relay? both (never just one light) headlights will periodically shut off while driving and them can back on, sometimes in minutes, some times after i get where i’m going and it sits for a couple hours. it is usually just the low beams, sometimes the high beams work, sometimes neither work, but the fog lights always work. all grounds are good, connections are clean and tight,i am having no other problems, just the headlights. i did change the multi switch out a couple years ago when everything was screwing up. everything was fine till about a week ago. jeep is not throwing any codes. all the tipm diagrams i have found do not list what the “k” spots are, i sent it one of them? thanks

not sure what fuse you are speaking of. as far as i know there is no fuse for the headlights, or a relay for that matter. all power to the headlights is handled completely and directly by the tipm.

and if the tipm detects too much draw through the system, it will shut the circuit down and your lights go out.

any update on your issue? just bought my kids a 2010 jku, lights working fine, and then all of the sudden, not working. i get the headlights flashing 3x when i turn the ignition and then nothing, they go off and don’t come back on unless i take the key out and do it again. some people say the tipm, but not totally sure what to look for or where to turn…. any solutions on your end?

are they factory halogen headlights?

if not, that is your problem. the tipm does not like aftermarket headlights especially led.

thanks, trying that now. funny as i contacted one of the tips repair places and they said it doesn’t address this issue. at this point willing to try anything. really appreciate the response. just fyi, they were led, working totally fine. issue happened and then also tried sylvania halogen, exact same blinking.

the tipm turns the lights on and off so don’t think it could not be involved in flashing headlights

welcome to the screwy world of federally mandated can and lin bus

hint if it was such a great improvement it would not have needed to be mandated as it would be what people wanted but instead it was federally mandated as the auto makers wanted to shove it down your throat and blame the government regulators the same regulators they lobbied (aka paid off) to mandate it because they wanted less owner repair/mods and more dealer dependence

and no allowance of consumer choice to avoid the scam try lobbied for it and got just what the wanted

won’t be long till they get a mandate to lock you out of even opening the hood of your federally mandated craptastic electric rolling hasmat site vehicle

i can still be the tipm no doubt. however, knowing what headlights that are being used narrows down the issue. a tipm can be damaged by running cheap led headlights that aren’t proper built. even mopar themselves reprogram the ecu specifically to run their factory led headlights.

the lights are directly connected and controlled by the tipm and do not go through a relay. if they are blinking off/on then it is either a loose wire or the tipm.

wiring diagram for the 2017 but i’m pretty sure the 2010 is the same:

there are circuit boards and diodes in led headlights as well. they can fail usually blinking first or partial out, then totally off all on their own. over heated circuit boards will cool and then they will work again. installing the basic factory headlight will determine if it’s the headlight itself or the tipm.

again, there is a reason why even the factory mopar led headlights are not plug and play.
