So one of my headlights are out. I live in the city.
What would you do until the next day when you can buy a replacement bulb?

a) Drive with 1 headlight. Possibly get pulled over and ticketed.
b) Drive with high beams on. Possibly get shot at while driving.

You will also get pulled over and ticketed for driving past cars with your high beams on.
And I believe the ticket for improper use of highbeams is actually a point on your license. Having a lowbeam out is just a fix it ticket.

hey, come on try a little
nothing is forever
there’s got to be something better than
in the middle
but me & cinderella
we put it all together
we can drive it home
with one headlight

Fix the dammed thing. Modern cars, with their halogen capsules are a quick and easy fix. If you have an older car with sealed beam headlights, then it takes a bit more to fix, but still not all that tough…Hell, you could do either one in the parking lot of the parts store in a matter of a few minutes.
If you’re driving on one headlight, whatcha gonna do if the OTHER one goes out while you’re driving?
VERY FEW cops will ignore driving with headlights, and CAN (depending on the state) order your vehicle out of service until you fix it.

So long ago, I dont remember when
Thats when they say I lost my only friend
Well they said she died easy of a broken heart disease
As I listened through the cemetery trees
I seen the sun comin up at the funeral at dawn
The long broken arm of human law
Now it always seemed such a waste
She always had a pretty face
So I wondered how she hung around this place
Chorus:
Hey, come on try a little
Nothing is forever
Theres got to be something better than
In the middle
But me & cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home
With one headlight
She said its cold
It feels like independence day
And I cant break away from this parade
But theres got to be an opening
Somewhere here in front of me
Through this maze of ugliness and greed
And I seen the sun up ahead
At the county line bridge
Sayin all theres good and nothingness is dead
Well run until shes out of breath
She ran until theres nothin left
She hit the end-its just her window ledge

Nothing is forever
Theres got to be something better than
In the middle
But me & cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home
With one headlight
Well this place is old
It feels just like a beat up truck
I turn the engine, but the engine doesnt turn
Well it smells of cheap wine & cigarettes
This place is always such a mess
Sometimes I think Id like to watch it burn
Im so alone, and I feel just like somebody else
Man, I aint changed, but I know I aint the same
But somewhere here in between the city walls of dyin dreams
I think her death it must be killin me
Hey, come on try a little
Nothing is forever
Theres got to be something better than
In the middle
But me & cinderella
We put it all together
We can drive it home

Drive with one headlight. If you do get pulled over just tell the officer that you just noticed it and it will be taken care of the following day.

I’d use the one headlight. But I wouldn’t race any vettes on the way to my crack dealer until I got the other one fixed.
- #9
Obviously just use one. If you get pulled over tell them you’re on your awy to get it fixed right now.
Happened to me once and I actually had the replacement bulb in the car with me. I showed him I had it and was going to replace it as soon as I got home and he said OK.

BTW, change BOTH bulbs at the same time. It will give you equal light from both headlights, (older one may be dimmer) and you don’t know how long the other one will last. Keep it as an emergency spare.
I had one headlight on my Dakota go out one morning on the way to work. I borrowed a replacement from our shop till I could get to the parts house. On the way to the parts house, the other one went out…talk about planned obsolescence…both went out within 36 hours.

I would turn the other off and try to get home unspotted.

I wouldn’t even consider b an option. Plus, if you’re in the city, things are well lite enough that you’d be fine with only a single head light.
- #13
i would drive to walmart and get replacement bulbs
last time i had one go out and i waited to fix it, i got pulled over. luckily, no ticket

This is correct. Highbeams on is a moving violation..

Do my reverse lights still work? THEN I DRIVE BACKWARDS!!!!!!!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

I’ve never seen a unanimous poll before. Wow.

I voted with all the rest – one headlight.

One headlight. Also, my driving lights.
- #19
Get some duct tape and a flashlight.
You outta be able to figure the rest out on your own.

Uh, lol..
In the second case, it’s more like get pulled over, ticketed, AND shot.

Drive with one light for a few miles till I found a spot where I could replace the failed lamp with one of the spares I always carry in my trunk … takes 2 at most minutes to do.
- #23
drive to walmart, get replacement light since they are open late or 24/7
yes its easy as pie these days, if you can’t change a lightbulb u should be shot lol, its got instructions in the manual if u need help.
and yes u can get pulled over for either high beam or one light.
