OK guys I know this must have been asked before. My lenses and reflectors are starting to get a bit hazy. I bought a set of brand new takeoffs from a guy on eBay. They indeed are new. I know that jeep states that there is a difference between the left and right. The reflector moldings are identical only the little paper sticker has left or right printed on it. Is there in fact a difference between them? About eight years ago I replaced the bulbs with an HID upgrade and it has been fantastic. Now I decided to go even more modern and go with LED bulbs. I have already replaced the HIDs with the LEDs in the old reflectors but now want to replace the reflectors also. SO, IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEFT AND RIGHT??? I also ordered a pair of adjuster screws so I can replace the inner studs with horizontal adjuster screws. I am getting sick and tired of the narrow headlight beam projection.

The body has tabs that line it up. When I replaced mine with JW Speakers, there was no left or right. I do not belive stock would either.

Glad you are replacing reflectors, LED bulbs with stock reflectors usually results in less than ideal patterns.

You mentioned adjuster screws, and one difference on my OEM LEDs is the vertical adjuster screws are on the outboard side of the housing for both lights, so that is one asymmetry. I don’t know what the implications of that would be in terms of trying to install them in the opposite position, I’ve never tried to remove them.

I am staying with stock OE reflectors. I was using them with my HID setup also. With the HID setup the light pattern was a lot more spread out than it is with the LED setup. With the LEDs I feel like I’m riding my motorcycle. This is one reason I am installing the horizontal adjusting screws in place of the inner support posts. I am not changing the vertical adjusting screws. I really liked the HID bulbs a lot but they were a bit finicky. Even with the auxiliary harness hooked directly to the battery and being turned on with a relay, sometimes the right light would not turn on right away with out switching them on a few times before the right would turn on. The only time this would not be a problem was when the battery was less than two years old. With the LEDs this is not a problem but the pattern is a bit too narrow. The three sided bulbs are terrible. There is now difference between Hi and low beam but the pattern is nice. The two sided bulbs are much better but as I mentioned the beam pattern is too narrow. I just got in my four sided bulbs but have not yet installed them. They only came in yesterday. Since they all use the same LED surface mount elements, there should be more light with the four sided bulbs. The advertised lumen is a lot more on these. I do miss the tremendous amount of light I had from the HID but not the hassles. The LED bulbs are quite cheap so experimenting is no problem. They cost less than a replacement set of stock bulbs.

I stayed with the stock reflectors because I prefer the stock look. I purchased the Supernova V4 LED bulbs which are two sided. The light output has more than doubled and the beam pattern is acceptable. It is very close to the stock pattern and doesn’t seem to bother oncoming traffic. I may later try the Cibie or Hella reflectors with the Supernova bulb for a better pattern. I did some research and found that the closer to the halogen bulb filament position the LEDs are the better the output. The bulbs that I got closely mimic the halogens.

The horizontal adjustment screws is on my short list. My left headlight kind of points too far to the right. I need it left of its current position a tad.

If you haven’t gone on youtube yet, try Headlight Revolution. That company has tested of lot of bulbs and they are fairly straight forward.

I have the same issue with the left reflector pointing too far to the right. I wonder if that is what the difference is between the left and right reflectors. I inspected them as close as possible and cant tell a difference between them. I wonder if reversing them might actually be better on the spread. But I guess that once I replace the bucket plugs with actual adjustment screws than it will be a mute point. These are my latest acquisition which I have yet to install and replace my two sided ones. https://www.ebay.com/itm/CREE-4-Sid…e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 The three sided ones as I mentioned are great on LO beam but there is virtually no difference when I switch to HI beam. Only maybe a tad brighter.
