just curious what kind of price point others are seeing on scout insurance.

i traded in a much larger bike to purchase my scout, keeping all the coverage the same, and my premium went up from $422/year to $548. not a huge jump, but it caught me a bit by surprise. i was thinking it would actually go down, with going to a smaller bike.

anybody else experience something similar?

depends on the state and it’s laws (no fault laws?), used bike versus new bike, and where you live (rural versus city). comparing one state to another or farm country to big city isn’t going to be much more than the preverbal “apples versus oranges” i’m always harping on about.

i agree with one eye.

it can vary radically by so many factors…

but, it what it really comes to as far as comparing to your old bigger bike.. is cost of replacement, how many of them have had to be replaced and how much out side property damage the model has caused..

that said, if a scout is more of a “young man’s bike”,, it’s likely cost insurance companies more money then your previous model per capita

no one has mentioned the variable in insurance based on the cc size of the engine yet…..

that’s kind of what i was basing my own guess on. my old bike was 106″ also purchased new, and at the time of purchase, had a much larger lien against it than this scout. i guess i just assumed going to a smaller, and much less equipped bike would be cheaper. i’m also a 52 year old rider with a spotless record. i certainly didn’t expect to pay more than i had been.

rider always had the best rates, but they’re starting to creep up as high or higher than the others. might have to do some shopping around.

about the same, and not much of a change from the old yamaha 750 either to my surprise because i was hearing rumors about the over 1000cc cost increase. mentioned that to the insurance people and they didn’t think it mattered.

and more surprising was they didn’t have another indian scout in their computer system, as of january 2017, if you can believe that.

230 euro/year, stealing insurance included, in a budget kind of company. it depends a lot on drivers age and years since license expedition though.
